Briaan L. Barron

is a self-taught graphic designer and brand marketing strategist based in Seattle, Washington.

She currently serves as Senior Brand Manager and designer for the jcoco brand at Seattle Chocolate Company, a nationally distributed fine chocolatier.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at Sarah Lawrence College, Briaan was intent to pursue a career in academia as a professor of media and culture. However, one semester into her Masters program at Boston University, Briaan decided to return home to Seattle and begin a career in marketing with hopes of bringing a human-centric and culturally responsive point of view to the industry.

As a freelancer and workshop instructor, Briaan has helped entrepreneurs, organizational leaders, and indie creatives to develop polished brands that are anchored by a purpose deeper than profit. Her academic roots in American Cultural Studies, background working with grassroots organizers, and experience interning with entertainment giants like Viacom and Ruff Ryders inspire her cross-disciplinary approach to branding and creative direction.

Online publication BAUCE MAG named Briaan one of “14 Black Web-Designers You Should Hire to Redesign Your Blog” in a 2017 article. She has been called upon as an expert commentator by KING5 News and has been a keynote speaker and panelist at events and universities across the Greater Seattle area. Briaan has taught marketing and branding workshops for organizations including Artist Trust, Shunpike, and Seattle Startup Week among others. She has developed and designed brands across categories, from lifestyle influencers and executive thought leaders to premium consumer packaged goods.

Briaan avidly promotes business literacy, particularly among underrepresented non-tech entrepreneurs. Through her work, she hopes to show that marketing and branding with foresight, cultural competence and creative edge are the way of the future.
